Title: Hands on Workshop on “FPGA”
Speaker: Mr. Jayesh Koli, Alumni Department of Electronics Engineering, currently working as a FPGA Engineer at Apple Inc.
Date: 6th May, 2022

The workshop on FPGA was conducted by Mr. Jayesh Koli, FPGA Engineer at Apple, California. The workshop began with a brief introduction to FPGA devices and how they are different from microcontrollers. It was followed by an in-depth description of an FPGA device and how its design directly correlates to its working. It was followed by some coding where participants were familiarized with Xilinx software and taught how to design FPGAs. Gate arrays created on the software were explained clearly and eventually the future of FPGA in the tech world was discussed.

The workshop proved to be helpful, illuminating and fun for everyone. It was concluded with a vote of thanks wherein a member of the council expressed their heartfelt gratitude towards everyone followed by E-certificates that were provided to all through a feedback form.

Scope of The MoU:
The budding graduates from the institutions could play a key role in technological upgradation, innovation, and competitiveness of an industry. Both parties believe that close co-operation between the two would be of major benefit to the student community to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Curriculum Design: First Party will give valuable inputs to the Second Party in teaching / training methodology and suitably customise the curriculum so that the students fit into the industrial scenario meaningfully.

Software Technologies Training: The first party will provide the trainings to the students and Faculties of the second party on different technologies like Data Science, Data Analyst, Artificial Intelligence, Tableau, Python, etc.,

Research and Development Skill Development Programs: First Party to train the students of second Party on the emerging technologies to bridge the skill gap and make them industry ready.

Guest Lectures: First Party to extend the necessary support to deliver guest lectures to the students of the second Party on the technology trends and in house requirements.

Faculty Development Programs: First Party to train the faculties of second Party for imparting training as per the industrial requirement considering the National Occupational Standards in concerned sector, if available.

In Smart India Hackathon 2022, it is mandatory to conduct an Internal hackathon at college level. So the proposal has been made to organize the Internal Hackathon on 11th March, 2022. Before this, the event is announced in each class so that students will be aware of the event. students are also informed to register a team of 6 members. According to the proposal, the schedule is also prepared.

Title: Hands on Workshop on “Embedded System Design : TEXAS MSP430 & ARM LPC 2148”

Date: 4th and 5th September, 2021

The workshop on Embedded System Design was conducted by Prof. Ishmeet Sigh Riar, professor at Pillai College of Engineering from the ETRX department. The workshop began with a brief introduction to embedded systems and their various applications in real life. It was followed by an in-depth description of the microcontroller Texas MSP430, its launch pad, and what the multiple pins on it are used for. Line by line explanation of the programming of MSP430 using Code Composer Studio was provided to all the participants. They were also familiarized with the workings of the software used to carry out the simulation and programming. Various simulations like LED Blinking, Gas Leakage Detection, Rain Alert System, and more were carried out and a live hardware demo of a few were shown to the participants. The workshop proved to be helpful, illuminating, and fun for everyone. It was concluded with a vote of thanks wherein our Staff Coordinator expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards everyone followed by E-certificates that were provided to all through a feedback form.

Speaker: Mr. Akash Pera, is an alumnus of our college PCE from the Electronics and Telecommunications department, who is Chief operations officer at SFA & ATP, and Chief executive officer at What You Tech

Mr. Akash Pera talked about himself and his journey. He started with how he doesn’t consider himself a self-made man and how it’s fine not being self-made. He then talked about how it doesn’t matter if you take monetary help from your parents or friends and how it’s just all about how you use the resources at your disposal. He then went on to teach the students about the basic difference between an entrepreneur and a business and talked about the steps needed to set up a Startup. He then talked in detail about various strategies he employed and learned through his journey and how the most important thing is knowing how to take your business or entrepreneurship from zero to one, i.e. you should know about your product more than anyone else. He talks about how calculated risks are the only way you should take risks and lastly mentioned how failure should not be the last benchmark and how starting over again should always be your aim in life.

ETSA PCE organized a Workshop on “LaTeX”. The speaker for the event was Prof. Ruchira Patole. The session was conducted on the online platform Zoom. This workshop was free for all the participants making the attendees aware of the LaTeX software. LaTeX is a document preparation system. LaTeX software is a high-quality typesetting system and a standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents. In addition to that, it can be used for almost any form of publishing.

The basics of embedded systems such as how to turn on an LED, how MCU/MPU works, how communication between two devices can be established, etc. were precisely explained.

ETSA PCE organized this hands-on training session for the students of PCE. During the workshop, students were trained to prepare their own black book with the help of LaTeX which will help them to prepare their own reports and black book for their final year projects. The speaker showed how to make a document using LaTeX, how to add contents, tables and graphical image in the documents. Students were acquainted with the methods to insert any text or images according to them. Overall, an extremely resourceful session was conducted by the speaker.
