National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

Plastic Awareness Drive

On 5th October, 2019, Pillai College of Engineering PCE, New Panvel in association with ICPE (Indian Centre for Plastic in Environment) , BIOCRUX, RELIANCE Industries, National Service Scheme volunteers, STREE MUKTI SANGHATHAN and Panvel Muncipal Corporation conducted a “Plastic Awareness Program”. There were a total of 500 students from the First Year Engineering PCE guided by 50 NSS volunteers in the massive cleanliness drive and collection of waste materials in Panvel. More than 780 kg of plastic waste were collected by the students.
The function was presided by the Honorable secretary of ICPE Dr. Sapan Ray, Managing Director of BIOCRUX Mr. Ajay Mishra, President of RELIANCE PET division Mr. Deepak Mehta, Dr. Sandeep Joshi, Dr. Arun Pillai and Dr. Biswajit Panda.
